Better together

The ocean doesn’t have borders, and neither does our mission. At Ghost Nets Ireland, we know that the scale of marine plastic pollution is a challenge no single organisation can solve. We are focused on building a dynamic ecosystem of volunteers, communities, experts, advocates, and industry leaders to reclaim our seas.

Who we work with

We are focused on designing our network to leverage the unique strengths of three core groups. Whether you are on the water, the shore or in the boardroom, you have a vital role to play.

Small Scale Sustainable Fishermen:

You are the eyes and ears of the Irish coast. We don't see fishermen as the problem, we see them as a primary solution.

Report and Recover:

if you lose a net, a string of pots or any gear due to weather or snags, tell us. If you provide the coordinates, our recovery teams will do our best to locate and retrieve it. Unlike traditional cleanup groups that might dispose of everything they find, our priority is to get your functional gear back to you. If its in working order, we are happy to hand it back over so it can keep supporting your livihood instead of damaging our reefs.

Expert Insight:

Your knowledge of local currents, seabed topography and common snag points is invaluable to us.

Our promise:

We work to protect your livelihood by removing the ghost gear that depletes the sock you rely on.

Local Volunteers & Communities

At Ghost Nets Ireland, we don't believe in reinventing the wheel. Ireland is home to incredible local beach clean groups, Tidy Towns committees, and environmental NGOs. Our goal is to amplify your impact by providing the specialised skills and equipment needed for heavy gear recovery.

Side By Side Recoveries:

If your group is planning a major beach clean, let us know. We can coordinate a parallel recovery mission—while your volunteers clear the shoreline, our team focuses on the ghost nets snagged in the rocks or submerged just offshore.

Technical Support:

Found a net that’s too big or too dangerous for a standard beach clean? Don't risk it. Contact us, and we will bring the specialised lifting and cutting gear to safely remove it as part of your event.

Visibility On Our Website:

We want our website to be a lighthouse for coastal action. If your group is hosting an event—be it a beach clean, a talk, or a fundraiser—we will promote it on our community calendar to help you reach more volunteers. All you have to do is reach out!

Resource Sharing:

From disposal logistics to identifying types of maritime waste, we are happy to share our expertise and network with any group working toward a plastic-free ocean.

Businesses

At Ghost Nets Ireland, we dont want to just "clean the ocean", we want to restore it! But the reality is that recovery missions are resource intensive. From fuel and specialised dive gear to marina fees and insurance, every hour we spend on the water has a cost.

We are looking for Ethical Partners to act as the engine behind our missions. Whether you are a small local shop or a large organisation, your sponsorship turns our technical expertise into real world results.

How You Can Fuel a Mission

We welcome sponsorship across all levels, allowing your business to contribute in a way that matches your capacity.

Single Mission Sponsorship:

Fund a targeted recovery operation. This covers fuel, safety equipment and logistics for a one day recovery on a specific site

Seasonal Sponsorship:

Become a cornerstone partner by funding a season of missions. This provides necessary support to expand our reach across the country.

Operational Anchors:

Help us keep the "lights" on by covering recurring operational costs. This can include:

Marina fees: Covering our berthing costs for the year.

The Fleet Fund: Sponsoring boat maintenance and engine servicing.

Tech & Tools: Funding the purchase of specialised lifting bags or haulage equipment.

Monthly or One Off Supporters:

For businesses or individuals that want to provide steady, ongoing support through a recurring monthly donation or a one time contribution to our general recovery fund.

Equipment & Resource Partnerships:

Sometimes the most impactful way to support our mission isn't through a checkbook, but through the specialised tools that get us safely into the water and keep us working on the shore.

We are always looking to collaborate with industry leading brands that want to see their equipment making a tangible difference. If your company manufactures the high performance gear we rely on, we invite you to become a Resource Partner.
